Who Is Yoona of UNIS?

Yoona, born Oh Yoona on October 7, 2009, is the main rapper of the eight-member K-pop girl group UNIS, formed through the 2023–2024 SBS survival show “Universe Ticket.” Representing STARON Entertainment during the competition, she impressed viewers with her confident rap delivery and bubbly stage presence, ultimately finishing 7th in the show’s final ranking to secure her debut spot.

Early Career and Trainee Years

Before joining UNIS, Yoona had already spent several years building experience in the entertainment industry. In March 2021, she joined the kids co-ed YouTube collective Play With Me Club, performing and appearing on camera until she graduated from the group in March 2022. Later that year, she was announced as a member of the then-upcoming girl group Free In Sass; however, the project did not move forward, and she left the company by early 2023.

Universe Ticket and UNIS Debut

In July 2023, Yoona was introduced as a contestant on “Universe Ticket,” a large-scale survival show that brought together 82 hopefuls from South Korea and abroad. Her rap skills and expressive personality helped her stand out throughout the competition, and she placed 7th overall in the January 2024 finale. On March 27, 2024, she officially debuted as a member of UNIS with the group’s first mini album, “We UNIS,” and its lead single “SUPERWOMAN.”

Life in UNIS

As UNIS’s main rapper, Yoona has been a key part of the group’s title tracks across the “We UNIS,” “Curious,” and “Swicy” eras, the latter of which brought UNIS their first-ever music show win. Fans affectionately call her “Yoondange” and “Yoondole,” nicknames that reflect her puppy-like, affectionate personality. She lives in Dongtan, Hwaseong, and began attending Hanlim Multi Art School in 2025 alongside fellow member Yunha.

Recent Update

In June 2026, F&F Entertainment announced that Yoona would be taking a hiatus from UNIS’s group activities to focus on her health. Fans of EverAfter have continued to show their support online, looking forward to her eventual return to the stage.
