Yuku is a Japanese member of the South Korean boy group DKB, known for his roles as lead dancer, sub-vocalist, and DJ since the group's debut in February 2020. Born Amanuma Yuku on May 12, 2002, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, he stands out as Brave Entertainment's first-ever Japanese artist and the only non-Korean member of DKB. Yuku joined the pre-debut lineup in November 2019 and quickly became known for his calm, gentle personality, earning the self-styled nickname "Soft Sun." Fans and fellow members alike note that he rarely gets angry and brings a steady, reassuring presence to the group. Moving to Korea meant learning the language from scratch, and Yuku has spoken candidly about the challenges of adjusting to a new culture while training, including studying Korean for about a year and eventually completing his high school education and the CSAT in South Korea. Beyond his main role as a dancer, he also contributes vocals and beatboxing to DKB's tracks and stage performances. His personal interests include watching animated cartoons, spending time at cafés, and playing kendama, a traditional Japanese toy he's skilled at. He also cares for a pet chocolate poodle he has raised since childhood. Yuku has faced real hardship in the spotlight, including the loss of his father in December 2020, and has continued to grow both as a performer and as a public figure since. Today, he remains an essential part of DKB's dancing and vocal lineup as the group continues promoting in both Korea and Japan.
Story

Biography

Who Is Yuku?

Yuku, born Amanuma Yuku (天沼ゆく) on May 12, 2002, is a Japanese singer, dancer, and DJ who performs as a member of the South Korean boy group DKB under Brave Entertainment. As the only Japanese member of the eight-member lineup, Yuku holds a special place in DKB’s story: he is Brave Entertainment’s very first Japanese artist, a distinction that shaped much of his early training and public image.

Yuku was revealed to the public on November 21, 2019, as one of the final trainees introduced before DKB’s official debut. He made his debut with the group on February 3, 2020, through the mini album Youth and its title track, “Sorry Mama.” Moving from Japan to train in South Korea meant learning an entirely new language from scratch, and Yuku has openly shared that studying Korean intensively for roughly a year before promotions, and that the pronunciation of “Sorry Mama” was one of his toughest early hurdles.

Role in DKB

Within DKB, Yuku serves as a lead dancer, sub-vocalist, and DJ, contributing both to the group’s sharp choreography and its stage production. Fans and members alike describe him as even-tempered and rarely angered, with a gentle, sunny disposition that earned him the self-given nickname “Soft Sun.” He is also known within the group for his beatboxing, which he brings into performances and covers.

Personal Life & Growth

Yuku was born and raised in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and eventually completed high school in South Korea, even sitting the CSAT (the Korean college entrance exam). His journey has not been without hardship: in December 2020, not long after DKB’s first anniversary, his father passed away, and Yuku briefly returned to Japan to be with his family before resuming activities with the group.

Outside of music, Yuku enjoys watching animated cartoons, visiting cafés, and playing kendama, a traditional Japanese skill toy. He is close with his pet chocolate poodle, which he has raised since elementary school. As DKB has grown into a global act, Yuku continues to represent the group across Korea and Japan, including fan concerts and tours such as Dark Strange.
