Who Is Xiaojun? WayV’s Soft-Voiced Main Vocalist

Xiaojun (肖俊), born Xiao Dejun (肖德俊), is a Chinese singer and actor under SM Entertainment‘s Chinese sub-label Label V. As the main vocalist of WayV — the Chinese unit of the sprawling K-pop group NCT — Xiaojun has built a devoted following thanks to his gentle, emotive voice and warm, approachable personality.

From Dongguan to Shanghai Theatre Academy

Born on August 8, 1999, in Dongguan, Guangdong, China, Xiaojun grew up in a musical family and even appeared on the reality competition X-Fire as a teenager. He was accepted into the Shanghai Theatre Academy, further sharpening his performance skills, before catching SM Entertainment’s attention. He joined the agency’s pre-debut program SM Rookies in July 2018.

Debuting with WayV

Xiaojun officially debuted on January 17, 2019, as WayV’s main vocalist with the EP The Vision. The seven-member (now six-member) group quickly became known for blending Mandopop, C-pop, and K-pop influences. In 2020, Xiaojun officially joined the wider NCT lineup through the NCT 2020 project, participating in “Make A Wish (Birthday Song).”

Sub-Units and Solo Ventures

In 2021, Xiaojun formed the duo WayV – Kun & Xiaojun, releasing the single “Back To You.” His warm chemistry with fellow member Kun made the pairing an instant hit among WayZenNi, the group’s dedicated fandom. In 2024, Xiaojun made his solo debut with the single “最佳损友” (“Best Friends”), further showcasing his songwriting side.
