Yangyang

Yangyang, born Liu Yangyang on October 10, 2000, is the main rapper, lead dancer, and maknae of WayV, the China-based sub-unit of the South Korean group NCT. Born in Taiwan, he moved to Düsseldorf, Germany, with his family at age 11, growing up fluent in Mandarin, German, and English before adding Korean during his trainee years.

Yangyang flew back to Taipei to audition for SM Entertainment’s Global Audition and was introduced as an SM Rookie on July 17, 2018. He officially debuted on January 17, 2019, as part of WayV’s original seven-member lineup with the digital EP “The Vision.” His multicultural background and multilingual fluency quickly made him a standout, both for his rap skills and his charismatic dancing.

In 2020, Yangyang joined NCT U for the “NCT 2020 Resonance” project, marking his first official activities as part of NCT’s Korea-based promotions and cementing his place within the wider 20+ member project. The following year, he formed the sub-unit duo WayV-Ten&Yangyang, further showcasing his versatility as both a rapper and vocalist.

Through releases like Take Over the Moon, Kick Back, and On My Youth, Yangyang has helped establish WayV as one of the most distinctive acts in the NCT universe, blending Mandopop, K-pop, and hip-hop influences. Known for his easygoing yet driven personality, he continues to promote across WayV, NCT U, and NCT’s full-unit projects, representing the group’s international reach on a global stage.
