Story

Biography

Jisung, born Park Ji-sung (박지성) on February 5, 2002, in Seoul, South Korea, is the main dancer, lead rapper and maknae (youngest member) of the South Korean boy group NCT, its sub-unit NCT Dream, and the rotational project group NCT U. Known for his sharp, powerful choreography and quietly warm personality, Jisung has grown up in front of fans, debuting as a young teenager and developing into one of NCT Dream’s most technically skilled performers.

Early Life and Trainee Years

Jisung was born in Mia-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, and spent part of his childhood living in Busan before returning to Seoul. He was cast by SM Entertainment through a dance competition while still very young, and his mother — a longtime fan of TVXQ and SHINee — recognized the opportunity and supported him in joining the agency. He trained as an SM Rookies member for several years, becoming known early on for his popping and locking skills.

Debut with NCT Dream

Jisung officially debuted on August 24, 2016, as the youngest of the seven original NCT Dream members, alongside Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and Chenle, with the digital single “Chewing Gum.” Because he debuted at such a young age, Jisung has said he sometimes struggled to relate to peers his own age at school, which led him to join the reality dance program “Dancing High” partly as a way to make friends outside the idol world. Interestingly, Jisung and Chenle had crossed paths years before their debut, having appeared together on a Chinese children’s television program back in 2013.

Growth into NCT Dream’s Main Dancer

As NCT Dream transitioned into a fixed, permanent line-up in 2020, Jisung grew rapidly — both in skill and in height, eventually becoming the tallest member of the group at 180 cm. He has been a key dance performer across all of the group’s major eras, including Hot Sauce (2021), Glitch Mode (2022), ISTJ (2023), Dreamscape (2024) and Go Back to the Future (2025), while also contributing rap verses and vocals. He regularly rotates into NCT U sub-unit projects as well.

Personality and Off-Stage Life

Despite his commanding stage presence, Jisung is known among members and fans as shy and a little clumsy off stage, with a habit of breaking things by accident and getting easily startled. He shares a close, playful bond with fellow maknae-era member Chenle, and the two co-host the official content series “Chenle & Jisung’s This and That.” Off duty, Jisung enjoys soccer, gaming and mukbang videos, and has spoken about his love of dance as something that helped him find his own voice as a performer.
