Yoojung

Choi Yoo-jung, known to fans simply as Yoojung, is a South Korean singer, rapper, dancer, and actress under Fantagio. Born on November 12, 1999, in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, she trained for four years and seven months before her breakout moment on Produce 101 in 2016, where she finished an impressive 3rd place and even served as center for the show’s iconic theme song “Pick Me.”

That result secured her a spot in the project girl group I.O.I, where she promoted as a member before the group’s disbandment in early 2017. Rather than stepping away from performing, Choi Yoo-jung returned to Fantagio and debuted later that year, in August 2017, as the main rapper, main dancer, lead vocalist, and face of the group Weki Meki, alongside fellow I.O.I alum Kim Do-yeon.

Over the following years, Yoo-jung became known for her versatility, taking part in the special collaboration unit WJMK with WJSN in 2018, appearing in dramas, and even joining the vocal survival show V-1 in 2019. In September 2022, she expanded her range further by debuting as a soloist with the single album “Sunflower,” showcasing a more personal, artist-driven side of her talent.

In August 2024, Weki Meki effectively disbanded after five members chose not to renew their contracts with Fantagio. Choi Yoo-jung, however, remained loyal to her agency, renewing her exclusive contract that November and continuing forward as a soloist and actress. She has become known for her boy-group dance covers, her rap-writing skills, and her all-around performance ability.

With a career spanning idol survival shows, group promotions, solo music, and acting, Choi Yoo-jung has proven herself one of the most adaptable and hardworking members of the original Produce 101 generation, continuing to grow her career on her own terms under Fantagio.
