Biography & History

Who Is Apink? Meet K-pop’s Longest-Running Girl Group

Apink (에이핑크) is a South Korean girl group that has spent more than fifteen years proving that a wholesome, innocent concept can stand the test of time in the fast-moving world of K-pop. Formed by A Cube Entertainment (now IST Entertainment) and debuting on April 19, 2011, with the mini album Seven Springs of Apink, the group built its identity around a bright, girl-next-door charm that set it apart from the “sexy concept” that dominated girl-group promotions at the time. If you grew up loving second-generation K-pop alongside acts like Girls’ Generation and SISTAR, Apink’s catalog will feel like coming home.

From Seven Members to Five: The Apink Lineup Story

Apink originally debuted with seven members, but the group’s story is really one of resilience. Yukyung departed in 2013 to pursue her studies, and Son Naeun left in 2022 to focus on her acting career. The current five-member lineup — Chorong, Bomi, Eunji, Namjoo, and Hayoung — kept the group together even after every member’s contract with longtime label IST Entertainment expired in 2023. Rather than disbanding, Chorong, Bomi, Namjoo, and Hayoung signed with With Us Entertainment in mid-2025, while Eunji joined BILLIONS Entertainment, and the five continue to promote together as Apink.

A Discography Built on Bubblegum Pop and Sincere Ballads

Apink’s discography spans seven studio albums, eleven Korean EPs, one single album, three compilation albums, and three Japanese studio albums. Early hits like “Mr. Chu,” “NoNoNo,” and “Luv” defined the group’s signature bubblegum pop sound, while later releases such as “I’m So Sick” and “Dumhdurum” showed a more mature, dance-driven direction. “Luv” alone racked up 17 music-show trophies, helping push Apink’s career total past 50 wins. In January 2026, the group released their eleventh EP, RE : LOVE, to mark their 15th anniversary, following it with the digital single “15th Season” in April 2026.

“"We are Apink. The 'A' stands for Absolute - our determination to always be the best, wrapped in the youthful, lovely spirit of pink."”
