Who Is Chansung?

Chansung, born Hwang Chan-sung on February 11, 1990, in Seoul, South Korea, is the youngest member of the K-pop group 2PM, serving as its Lead Rapper and Vocalist. Nicknamed the “gentle giant” of the group, he is known for his towering presence, athletic background, and warm personality.

From Child Actor to Idol Trainee

Before becoming an idol, Chansung appeared in television roles as a child performer, including MBC’s “Unstoppable High Kick” and KBS2’s “Jungle Fish.” He later competed on JYP Entertainment’s “Superstar Survival” alongside future bandmates Taecyeon and Junho, and joined the trainee program that would shape 2PM through Mnet’s “Hot Blood Men.” He debuted with the group on September 4, 2008.

A Multi-Talented Idol

Beyond music, Chansung is a highly trained martial artist, holding a fourth-degree black belt in Taekwondo and advanced skill in kumdo. He has also built a steady acting career in both Korea and Japan, appearing in dramas and films such as the Japanese series “Kaito Royale.” In 2012, he opened his own fitness center in Seoul, reflecting his passion for health and physical training.

Life Beyond 2PM

Chansung became the first member of 2PM to start a family, marrying in 2022 and later welcoming a child. He founded his own management agency, L’July Entertainment, to oversee his career in South Korea while continuing Japanese activities with agency HIAN Inc. Despite his many individual pursuits, he remains an active and beloved member of 2PM, cherished by HOTTEST for his humor, loyalty, and gentle heart beneath his imposing frame.
