Biography & History

ENHYPEN was formed through I-LAND, a survival competition show broadcast on Mnet from June to September 2020, produced jointly by Big Hit Entertainment and CJ ENM. Out of 23 competing trainees, seven members were selected for the final lineup – Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Ni-Ki, Heeseung, Sunghoon, and Sunoo – with six chosen by global fan votes and one selected by the producers.

The group’s name is drawn from the hyphen symbol, symbolizing “Connection, Discovery & Growth.” Just as a hyphen links separate words into new meaning, ENHYPEN’s concept centers on the members connecting with one another and their fans to grow together.

ENHYPEN debuted on November 30, 2020, with the mini album Border: Day One, quickly building a reputation for intense choreography, layered vocal work, and immersive concept storytelling. Their “Dark Moon” vampire-fantasy universe, introduced through Dark Blood and later expanded, became one of the group’s signature creative threads. Over the following years, ENHYPEN released acclaimed projects including Dimension: Dilemma, Manifesto: Day 1, Dark Blood, Orange Blood, Romance: Untold, and Desire: Unleash, alongside a full Japanese-language studio album, Sadame.

A major turning point came on March 10, 2026, when BELIFT LAB announced that Heeseung would be departing ENHYPEN to pursue a solo career while remaining under the same agency. The label cited a divergence in artistic direction, and the announcement was met with strong reactions from fans, including a petition urging the label to reconsider. On March 15, BELIFT LAB confirmed the departure was final, and ENHYPEN officially continued as a six-member group. The reorganized lineup released the seventh mini album The Sin: Vanish and prepared their eighth mini album The Sin: Bliss, alongside the Blood Saga world tour spanning Latin America, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

Beyond music, ENHYPEN has built a strong presence in fashion and lifestyle, serving as brand ambassadors for names such as Tiffany & Co., Mixsoon, Listerine (Asia-Pacific), and Samyang Foods, as well as being appointed Seoul City Ambassadors to promote tourism.
