Who Is Rowoon?

Rowoon is the stage name of Kim Seok-woo (김석우), a South Korean actor and singer born on August 7, 1996, in Seoul, South Korea. Rowoon first rose to fame as the lead vocalist, visual, and center of the boy group SF9 under FNC Entertainment, debuting on October 5, 2016. If you know him from his string of hit K-dramas, you might be surprised to learn just how far he’s come since his idol debut.

Rowoon made his acting debut in 2017 with a minor role in “School 2017” before landing his breakthrough leading role in “Extraordinary You” (2019), which earned him the Male Rookie Award at the MBC Drama Awards. From there, his acting career only grew, with standout performances in “The King’s Affection” (2021), “Tomorrow” (2022), “She Would Never Know,” and “Destined With You” (2023).

Rowoon’s Career Highlights

In September 2023, after seven years with SF9, Rowoon and FNC Entertainment announced that he would step away from group promotions to focus fully on acting, while remaining with the same agency. FNC described him as forever the group’s “ninth member,” and Rowoon has continued to reunite with his former groupmates at events like the 2023 FNC Kingdom concert. Since then, he has continued building his acting résumé while maintaining ties to his musical roots as a former idol.

On July 21, 2025, Rowoon began his mandatory active-duty military service, following the same national duty path as many of his peers, temporarily stepping back from the spotlight.
