Born January 5, 2006, in Xinxiang, Henan, China, Hanjin is TWS's only Chinese member and the one with the shortest trainee period, discovered through a Douyin dance clip in late 2022 before debuting just over a year later with Sparkling Blue. Known for his doll-like visuals, warm low-register vocals, and clean dance lines built on a kung fu foundation, Hanjin quickly became a fan favorite for his gentle, considerate personality on and off stage. He is TWS's self-appointed memory maker, always snapping candid photos of Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Jihoon, and Kyungmin, and shares a dorm room with maknae Kyungmin. Since TWS's January 2024 debut, Hanjin has promoted through Sparkling Blue, Summer Beat!, Last Bell, Try with Us, the group's Japanese debut single, Play Hard, and No Tragedy, contributing his signature soft tone to hits like Plot Twist and Last Festival. Story

Biography

Hanjin is the sub vocalist and visual of the Pledis Entertainment boy group TWS, and the only Chinese member of the six-member “boyhood pop” act. Born Han Zhen (韩振) on January 5, 2006, in Xinxiang, Henan, China, Hanjin was scouted in late 2022 through a dance video he posted on Douyin, China’s short-video platform. After being invited to Seoul by Pledis Entertainment, he trained for a little over a year – the shortest training period of any TWS member – before officially debuting with the group on January 22, 2024, with the mini album Sparkling Blue and its lead single “Plot Twist.”

Before joining Pledis, Hanjin had years of kung fu practice behind him, which shaped the clean body control and precise lines he now brings to TWS’s choreography. Vocally, he is known for a soft, warm tone that usually covers the lower parts of TWS’s songs, though he has shown he can hit stable high notes as well, most notably on “Go Back” from the group’s third EP Try with Us. He was also given a featured dance break during the group’s first single “Last Festival.”

Within TWS, Hanjin is affectionately nicknamed the group’s “memory maker” because he is constantly taking candid photos of the other members, and fans and staff alike often describe him as having a doll-like visual – large, sparkling eyes, fair skin, and an easy mix of cute and handsome charm. Since debut, Hanjin has promoted through all of TWS’s Korean and Japanese releases, including Summer Beat!, the single album Last Bell, Try with Us, the group’s Japanese debut single “Nice to See You Again,” Play Hard, and the 2026 EP No Tragedy, while the group has picked up Rookie of the Year honors at multiple Korean music awards shows.

Off stage, Hanjin is known for his good-natured personality, love of swimming and gaming, and a habit of writing thoughtful replies to fans on Weverse. He shares a dorm room with the group’s youngest member, Kyungmin, and is often described by his groupmates as the “gentle older brother” of TWS, despite adjusting to a new country, language, and industry in a very short time before debut.

Trivia & Fun Facts ✨

Hanjin was born in Xinxiang, Henan, China, on January 5, 2006.
He has an older sister (born in 2001) and two younger brothers (born in 2011 and 2016).
He was discovered by Pledis Entertainment through a dance video he posted on Douyin, China's version of TikTok, in late 2022.
His trainee period lasted a little more than a year, the shortest of any TWS member.
He auditioned for Pledis Entertainment as a dancer rather than a vocalist.
Before becoming a trainee, he studied at Henan Normal University Affiliated Middle School and was part of his school's broadcasting club.
He practiced kung fu for years before debut, which shaped his dance control and posture.
Hanjin was revealed with his face covered by SEVENTEEN's Hoshi at the SVT Caratland fan event in 2023, the same way SEVENTEEN itself was first revealed by NU'EST in 2013.
He says he looks the most like a cat, and his representative emoji in the group is a bunny.
His favorite food is Ma La Xiang Guo (spicy stir-fried pot), and he also loves Mongolian steamed dumplings called buuz.
His favorite drinks are Earl Grey tea and iced Americano.
He tries to maintain a healthy diet by drinking about a liter of tomato juice and eight glasses of water daily.
Because his face tends to swell easily, he often drinks tea to reduce puffiness and reportedly carries nutritional supplements with him.
He picks black as his representative color and fall as his favorite season.
His favorite number is 15.
He enjoys swimming and prefers romantic comedy movies.
He can wink more than 30 times in ten seconds, one of his quirkiest talents.
He can move his ears, another of his party-trick skills.
His sleeping habit is hugging a pillow while wrapping his legs around a blanket; groupmate Jihoon has joked that Hanjin sometimes sleeps with his eyes slightly open.
He is the group's self-appointed "memory maker" because he is constantly taking photos of the other members.
His roommate in the TWS dorm is maknae Kyungmin.
Among the members and staff, Hanjin is usually the first person to wake up in the morning.
His morning routine consists of showering, a skincare routine, and coffee.
If he ever met a fan on the street, he has said he would want to buy them a coffee or their drink of choice.
As a child he believed in Santa Claus, though he no longer does.
He enjoys playing video games in his downtime.
His name being pronounced the same as the Korean logistics company Hanjin Express has become a running joke among fans and members.
Because he shares a name with the shipping company, he has jokingly appeared in courier-themed content for the group.
His stated personal color palette is "summer cool," with light summer and soft light summer as his best shades.
