Who Is Yerin?

Yerin, born Jung Ye-rin (정예린) on August 19, 1996, in Incheon, South Korea, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actress who first rose to fame as the lead dancer, vocalist, and center of the girl group GFriend. Since the group’s 2021 hiatus, she has built a distinct identity as a solo artist under the mononym “YERIN,” releasing four EPs and earning a reputation as one of K-pop’s most versatile “Variety Queens.”

Trainee Days and GFriend Era

Yerin attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul and trained briefly before joining Source Music, where she debuted with GFriend on January 15, 2015. As the group’s center and “face,” she anchored performances of hits like “Me Gustas Tu,” “Rough,” and “Fingertip,” and became known for her clear, technically skilled vocals and lively on-stage presence. She also gained variety-show recognition, becoming an MC on SBS MTV’s “The Show” and appearing on “Law of the Jungle.”

Solo Career

Following GFriend’s 2021 hiatus, Yerin signed with Sublime Artist Agency and made her solo debut in May 2022 with the EP “Aria.” She has since released “Ready, Set, LOVE” (2023), “Rewrite” (2024), and, after signing with A-Side Company, “Reach You” (2026), steadily carving out a sound distinct from her idol-era work. Alongside music, she has built an acting résumé that includes web dramas such as “The Witch’s Store Reopening” and “Sea Village Cloud Pension,” and has become a familiar face in beauty and lifestyle brand campaigns.

Reunions and Recognition

In January 2025, Yerin reunited with her former GFriend members for the group’s 10th-anniversary project, “Season of Memories,” followed by a celebratory concert tour — a project she has described as a meaningful reminder of how much fans still cherish the group’s legacy.
