Winwin, born Dong Sicheng (董思成), is a Chinese singer, dancer, and actor best known as a member of the SM Entertainment boy group NCT and its China-based sub-unit WayV. Born on October 28, 1997, in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, Winwin built his early reputation as one of K-pop’s most graceful movers, thanks to years of training in traditional Chinese dance before he ever set foot in South Korea.

Early Life and Trainee Years

Long before he became a global idol, young Dong Sicheng was already a serious dance student. In 2009 he was admitted to the affiliated secondary school of the Beijing Dance Academy, placing first in art dance entrance exams, and he later studied at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing, one of China’s most competitive performing arts schools. His talent didn’t go unnoticed: an SM Entertainment casting manager reportedly traveled to China multiple times to convince him to train in Seoul. Winwin officially joined SM Entertainment in July 2015, alongside future WayV members Kun and Renjun, and was introduced to the public as part of the pre-debut team SM Rookies on January 5, 2016.

Debut with NCT 127 and NCT U

Winwin made his official debut on July 7, 2016, as a member of NCT 127, promoting as the group’s lead dancer, sub-vocalist, and sub-rapper on their debut mini album NCT #127. Two years later, on February 18, 2018, he expanded his activities to the project unit NCT U with the single “BOSS,” and went on to participate in the full-group album NCT 2018 Empathy. His clean lines and effortless stage presence quickly made him a fan favorite within the wider NCT universe.

Joining WayV, NCT’s China-Based Unit

In December 2018, Winwin was confirmed as a founding member of WayV (威神V), NCT’s Chinese-language sub-unit under SM’s China-focused label, Label V. The seven-member lineup — Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang — debuted on January 17, 2019, with the EP The Vision. As WayV’s lead dancer, lead rapper, sub-vocalist, and visual, Winwin became a key face of the group, promoting through releases like Take Off, Take Over the Moon, and WayV’s first full album, Awaken the World (2020), which featured the single “Turn Back Time.”

Shifting Focus to Acting in China

By 2021, Winwin had begun spending more time in his home country. On October 1, 2021, SM Entertainment confirmed that he had established his own personal studio in China to manage a growing slate of acting projects, while remaining, on paper, a member of WayV. He made his lead-actor debut in the romance drama Sweet Games (2023), playing a voice actor named Yan Yue, and went on to appear in dramas such as Snowfall, Perfect Match, and A Splendid Match, as well as the film Blades of the Guardians. This period cemented Winwin’s reputation as one of the most successful idol-to-actor crossovers among Chinese K-pop stars, even as his group promotions with WayV grew increasingly rare.

Departure from SM Entertainment and NCT

On July 8, 2026, SM Entertainment announced that Winwin’s exclusive contract would conclude the following day, bringing an end to his decade-long journey with the company and formally closing out his activities with NCT and WayV. In a personal letter to fans, Winwin reflected on the ten years since he first arrived as a trainee, thanking the people he’d met along the way and promising to keep growing as an artist. He continues his acting and music career in China through his own studio and Yuekai Entertainment.

Personal Style and Public Image

Off stage, Winwin is known among fans (affectionately called WayZenNi) for his quiet, reserved personality that contrasts sharply with his commanding stage presence — a contrast members often joke about in variety shows. He’s fluent in Mandarin and Korean, plays guitar and piano, and has cited EXO’s “Growl” as the song that first made him want to become an artist. Whether behind a microphone, on a dance floor, or in front of a camera, Winwin’s journey from a dance prodigy in Wenzhou to an internationally recognized idol and actor remains one of K-pop’s most distinctive crossover stories.
