Biography

Who Is Hayoung?

Hayoung (하영), born Oh Ha-young (오하영) on July 19, 1996, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and actress best known as the maknae (youngest member) and a vocalist-rapper of the girl group Apink. If you’re a fan of bright, heartfelt K-pop idols who grew up in front of the camera, Hayoung’s story is one you’ll want to know well.

Early Life and Trainee Days

Hayoung was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, as an only child. She attended Shinwol Middle School before continuing her studies at the School of Performing Arts Seoul. As a seventh grader, she auditioned for Cube Entertainment and became a trainee, spending about a year and a half preparing for her debut. She chose not to pursue college so she could focus fully on her promotions with Apink.

Debuting With Apink

On February 21, 2011, Hayoung was introduced as the third member of the newly formed girl group Apink. She debuted with the group on April 19, 2011, performing “I Don’t Know (Mollayo)” and “Wishlist” from their first EP, Seven Springs of Apink. As the group’s youngest member, she quickly became known for her sweet vocal tone, sharp rap delivery, and surprisingly mature stage presence.

Branching Into Acting and Variety Shows

Beyond music, Hayoung built a steady career in Korean entertainment. In 2014, she began co-hosting the variety show Weekly Idol alongside fellow member Bomi, and later returned as a co-MC in 2015. She joined the all-female cast of Law of the Jungle in 2016, and in 2017 she made her acting debut in the web drama Find Her. She went on to appear in additional dramas, including The Driver (2022), steadily growing her range as a performer.

Solo Career and Songwriting

Hayoung is also a credited songwriter, having penned lyrics for Apink’s “What a Boy Wants” (2015) and co-written the duet “It’s You” with member Eunji. On August 21, 2019, she made her official solo debut with the mini album OH!, led by the title track “Don’t Make Me Laugh.” The EP peaked at number 8 on Korea’s Gaon Album Chart. She followed this with the solo single “Bird” in 2020 and lent her voice to “I’m Fine,” the lead OST for the KBS2 drama Soul Mechanic.

Recent Activities

In 2023, Hayoung signed with Choi Creative Lab and also joined the virtual project group FE:VERSE under the persona “Seoritae.” In 2025, alongside her Apink bandmates Chorong, Bomi, and Namjoo, she signed with With Us Entertainment, continuing Apink’s activities together as one of K-pop’s longest-running girl groups.
