Ryujin is the main rapper, lead dancer, and center of ITZY, the South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. If ITZY’s “teen crush” concept needed a face, Ryujin’s confident stage energy is exactly it. Born Shin Ryu-jin on April 17, 2001, in Seoul, she was scouted at a Got7 fan meeting while still in middle school — proof that sometimes the biggest opportunities show up in the most ordinary places.

Early Life and Pre-Debut Career

Before ITZY even existed, Ryujin was already turning heads. She placed first among female contestants on JTBC’s survival show “Mix Nine,” appeared in BTS‘s “Love Yourself” highlight reel with J-Hope and Jimin, and even had a small role in the 2017 film “The King.” She trained with JYP Entertainment for four years, studying practical dance at Hanlim Multi Art School alongside groupmate Chaeryeong.

Debut and Life as ITZY’s Center
