Sana

Sana, born Minatozaki Sana, is a Japanese singer, dancer, and sub-vocalist of the global K-pop girl group TWICE under JYP Entertainment. Born on December 29, 1996, in Tennōji-ku, Osaka, Japan, Sana grew up as an only child and first fell in love with performing after watching the rising popularity of Japanese and Korean idol groups. She enrolled at EXPG (Exile Professional Gym) in Osaka in 2009, sharpening her dance and vocal skills before a JYP Entertainment scout discovered her while she was shopping with friends.

After passing her audition on April 13, 2012, Sana moved to South Korea to begin training. In 2015, she appeared on the survival reality show Sixteen, which selected the nine members who would go on to debut as TWICE. The group officially debuted on October 20, 2015, with the mini album The Story Begins and its lead single “Like Ooh-Ahh.”

Known for her bright, cheerful energy and her catchphrase-worthy “Shy Shy Shy” line, Sana quickly became one of TWICE’s most beloved members. As a sub-vocalist, she has lent her voice to global hits including “Cheer Up,” “TT,” “Fancy,” and “Feel Special,” while also co-writing several TWICE tracks credited under the Korea Music Copyright Association. In February 2021, she made history as the first TWICE member to release an individual single with her cover of “Sotsugyou.”

In 2023, Sana joined fellow Japanese members Momo and Mina to form the sub-unit MiSaMo, debuting with the Japanese mini album Masterpiece on July 26, 2023, followed by Haute Couture in 2024. Off stage, Sana is celebrated for her warmth, her love of perfume collecting and calligraphy, and her close bond with fellow idols across the industry. With her infectious positivity and steady vocal presence, Sana remains a defining personality within TWICE and a fan favorite among ONCE worldwide.
