Their Story
TWICE is a nine-member South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment through the 2015 reality survival show Sixteen. The group debuted on October 20, 2015, with the mini album The Story Begins and its lead single “Like Ooh-Ahh.” Composed of Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu, TWICE combined members from South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan into a lineup built for both broad domestic appeal and international crossover from day one.
TWICE’s breakthrough arrived in 2016 with “Cheer Up,” a track that topped the Gaon Digital Chart for a then-record seven weeks and won Song of the Year at both the Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards. The group followed with “TT,” whose crossed-wrist “TT” hand gesture became one of the most imitated pieces of choreography in K-pop history. Through hits like “Knock Knock,” “Signal,” “What Is Love?,” “Fancy,” and “Feel Special,” TWICE built a reputation for bright, hook-driven “color pop” that made them the best-selling South Korean girl group of their generation, with cumulative Korean album sales exceeding 14.5 million units.
The group’s ambitions expanded well beyond Korea. In Japan, every one of TWICE’s studio albums has topped the Oricon Albums Chart, and the group became the first K-pop girl group and only the second girl group ever to headline a three-day run at the Tokyo Dome. In the United States, TWICE signed with Republic Records in 2020 and became the first K-pop girl group to enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200 with an EP, later headlining stadiums such as Banc of California Stadium and becoming the first K-pop girl group to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago in 2026. Studio albums Eyes Wide Open, Formula of Love: O+T=<3, This Is For, and the tenth-anniversary release Ten: The Story Goes On pushed the group’s sound into more mature synth-pop, disco, and R&B territory.
Beyond the group, individual members have built substantial solo and sub-unit careers, including Nayeon’s IM NAYEON, Jihyo’s ZONE, Tzuyu’s abouTZU, and the Japanese-member trio MISAMO (Mina, Sana, Momo). In 2023, TWICE became the first K-pop act to win the Breakthrough Artist award at Billboard’s Women in Music. Known collectively to their devoted fandom, ONCE, as one of the most durable and beloved acts of K-pop’s third generation, TWICE continues to headline world tours and break chart records more than a decade after their debut.

The Fandom
Everything that makes TWICE's fandom unique — from their name to their official light stick.
ONCE is the official fandom name of TWICE, chosen to reflect the group's message that if fans love TWICE even once, TWICE will repay that love twice over. The name captures the reciprocal, tightly-knit bond between the group and its fans, who have supported TWICE from small showcases in 2015 to sold-out stadiums and festival headline sets a decade later.
TWICE's official light stick, the Candybong, is shaped like a lollipop topped with the group's logo and lights up in the official colors apricot and neon magenta. Inspired by the song "Candy Boy," later versions such as the Candybong Z and Candybong ∞ (Infinity) added new interactive lighting modes for concerts and fan events.
