BamBam is the lead rapper of GOT7 and one of K-pop's most influential Thai idols, born Kunpimook Bhuwakul on May 2, 1997, in Bangkok, Thailand. Raised by his mother after losing his father at a young age, BamBam grew up dancing and dreaming of Korean music thanks to his mother's love of Rain, and he won a national Rain dance-cover competition before being scouted by JYP Entertainment at just thirteen. He moved to Seoul to train and debuted with GOT7 in January 2014, quickly becoming known for his sharp rap diction, confident stage presence, and the signature "Double B" tag that fans instantly recognize. After GOT7's JYP contract ended in 2021, BamBam signed with ABYSS Company and launched a fast-moving solo career, debuting with the EP riBBon in June 2021, followed by B in 2022, his first full album Sour & Sweet in 2023, and BAMESIS in 2024. In 2025 he parted ways with ABYSS, signed with HALO Corporation, and released his first Thai-language EP, HOMETOWN, reconnecting with his roots. Beyond music, BamBam is a major cultural figure in Thailand, serving as the Golden State Warriors' global brand ambassador and fronting numerous fashion and lifestyle campaigns. Fans know him for his outgoing ESTJ personality, his tattoos, his childhood friendship with BLACKPINK's Lisa, and his genuine perseverance in supporting his family since debut. Whether rapping with GOT7 or exploring his Thai identity as a soloist, BamBam continues to expand what it means to be a global K-pop idol.
Story

Biography

Ask any GOT7 fan who brings the energy on stage, and BamBam’s name comes up fast. As the group’s lead rapper, this Bangkok-born idol has spent over a decade building a career that spans K-pop, Thai music, fashion, and even sports ambassadorship. Here’s his story, from Bangkok to Seoul and back again.

From Bangkok to JYP Entertainment

Born Kunpimook Bhuwakul on May 2, 1997, in Bangkok, Thailand, BamBam started dancing at age ten, inspired by his mother’s love of the singer Rain. After winning Thailand’s Rain Cover Dance Competition in 2007, he was scouted by JYP Entertainment at thirteen and moved to South Korea to train for over three years. He debuted with GOT7 in January 2014, standing out immediately for his sharp Thai-accented rap flow and his now-iconic “Double B” hand tag.

Going Solo: riBBon to HOMETOWN

After GOT7 left JYP Entertainment in 2021, BamBam signed with ABYSS Company and moved fast, releasing his debut EP riBBon in June 2021, the follow-up EP B in early 2022, and his first full album, Sour & Sweet, in 2023. His momentum continued with the 2024 EP BAMESIS. In 2025, after parting ways with ABYSS, he signed with HALO Corporation and released his first Thai-language project, HOMETOWN — a full-circle moment that let him reconnect with his roots.

More Than a Rapper

BamBam’s influence in Thailand rivals his fame in Korea: he’s the Golden State Warriors’ global brand ambassador, a face of major fashion and tech campaigns, and childhood friends with BLACKPINK’s Lisa, with whom he trained in the same Bangkok dance crew, We Zaa Cool. Known for his outgoing ESTJ personality and his tattoos, BamBam has never shied away from talking about the hardships his family faced after his father’s death — a story that’s made his success even more meaningful to fans.

From Bangkok stages to Seoul arenas, BamBam keeps proving that being a global idol means never losing sight of where you started.
