Who Is Eunji?

Eunji (은지), born Jung Eun-ji (originally Jung Hye-rim) on August 18, 1993, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actress best known as the main vocalist of Apink. Celebrated for her powerful voice and warm personality, Eunji has built parallel careers in music and acting that have made her one of the most well-rounded idols of her generation.

Early Life

Eunji was born in Haeundae, Busan, and attended Shinjae Elementary School, Jaesong Girls’ Middle School, and Busan Hyehwa Girls’ High School. She has a younger brother, Jung Min-ki. Remarkably, she trained for only about two months before debuting with Apink, one of the shortest trainee periods in K-pop history, a testament to her natural vocal talent.

Apink Career

Eunji debuted with Apink on April 19, 2011, as the group’s main vocalist and face of the group, delivering standout vocals on hits including “Mr. Chu,” “NoNoNo,” and “LUV.” She is also a member of the sub-unit Apink JooJiRong alongside Chorong and Namjoo.

Acting Career

Eunji’s acting debut came in 2012 with the tvN drama “Reply 1997,” where her performance as an obsessive H.O.T. fan won her the Baeksang Arts Award for Best New Actress. She went on to star in “That Winter, the Wind Blows” (2013), “Trot Lovers” (2014), “Cheer Up!” (2015), the horror film “0.0MHz” (2019), and more recent hits like “Work Later, Drink Now” (2021–2023) and “Miss Night and Day” (2024), cementing her reputation as one of K-pop’s most successful actress-idols.

Solo Music Career

In April 2016, Eunji launched her solo career with the EP Dream, writing the lyrics to its title track “Hopefully Sky” herself. The song topped multiple Korean charts and became one of the year’s best-selling digital singles. She followed up with a second EP, The Space, in 2017, and held her debut solo concert, “Attic,” the same year.

Recent Activities

After fourteen years with her longtime agency, Eunji ended her contract with IST Entertainment in May 2025 and signed with BILLIONS Entertainment, while confirming she would continue to promote as part of Apink. In 2026, she reunited with her fellow members for Apink’s 15th anniversary comeback with the EP Re : Love.
