Who Is Huh Yunjin of LE SSERAFIM?

Huh Yunjin, born October 8, 2001, in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in New York, is a Korean-American singer-songwriter, main vocalist, and rapper of the HYBE girl group LE SSERAFIM. As the group’s tallest member and one of its most outspoken personalities, Yunjin has built a reputation not just as a powerhouse vocalist, but as a genuine singer-songwriter unafraid to put her own story into her music.

An Unconventional Path to Debut

Yunjin moved to the United States at eight months old and grew up in Niskayuna, New York, training in musical theater and opera before ever considering K-pop. She played Carlotta in a school production of The Phantom of the Opera and dreamed of playing professional field hockey. At 16, she moved back to South Korea to pursue an idol career, training first at SM Entertainment, then Pledis Entertainment, before competing on Produce 48 in 2018, where she placed 26th and was eliminated. It was, by her own account, the longest and most uncertain road to debut of any LE SSERAFIM member — over four years of training in total.

Debuting With LE SSERAFIM

Yunjin was transferred to Source Music and revealed as LE SSERAFIM’s sixth and final member on April 9, 2022, ahead of the group’s debut with FEARLESS on May 2, 2022. Her opera-trained voice and commanding 172 cm frame made her an instant standout, and she quickly became known as one of the group’s primary vocal anchors.

A Singer-Songwriter in Her Own Right

What sets Yunjin apart is her prolific solo songwriting. She released her debut solo single “Raise y_our glass” in August 2022, followed by “I ≠ DOLL” in January 2023 — a deeply personal track about the pressures of idol life that drew widespread critical acclaim — and “love you twice” two months later. She followed up in 2025 with “Jellyfish,” continuing to write and produce her own music. She has also co-written several LE SSERAFIM songs, including “Blue Flame,” “Impurities,” and “Eve, Psyche & the Bluebeard’s wife.” Between group promotions, solo releases, and outspoken interviews about identity and self-expression, Huh Yunjin has emerged as one of LE SSERAFIM’s most distinct and creatively driven members.
