Early Life and Trainee Years

Before joining KQ Entertainment, Wooyoung trained under BigHit Entertainment (now HYBE) around 2014. That’s actually where he first crossed paths with future bandmate Yeosang. When Yeosang left to join KQ, Wooyoung followed him, saying the two would “succeed or fail together.” That kind of loyalty says a lot about who he is. In 2017, he competed on the JTBC survival show MIXNINE as part of KQ’s pre-debut unit, “KQ Fellaz.”

Debut with ATEEZ

On October 24, 2018, Wooyoung officially debuted alongside Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, and Jongho with ATEEZ’s first mini album, Treasure EP.1: All to Zero. From the very start, his sharp choreography and playful stage presence made him stand out as one of the group’s most dynamic performers, and he’s since been officially recognized as one of ATEEZ’s Main Dancers alongside Yunho and Mingi.

Career Highlights

Wooyoung has grown right alongside ATEEZ through its acclaimed Treasure, Zero: Fever, The World, and Golden Hour album eras. In 2021, he stepped into acting for the first time in the K-drama Imitation alongside members Seonghwa, Yunho, and San. He faced a short hiatus in 2023 due to an ankle injury but quickly rejoined promotions. In 2025, he released his first solo track, “Sagittarius,” named after his own zodiac sign, on the repackage album GOLDEN HOUR: Part.3 ‘In Your Fantasy Edition.’
