Who is Seungkwan?

Seungkwan is the stage name of Boo Seung-kwan, a South Korean singer and entertainer who serves as Main Vocalist and the “Face of the Group” for SEVENTEEN, the 13-member self-producing boy group under Pledis Entertainment. Born on January 16, 1998 in Busan and raised on Jeju Island, Seungkwan became a Pledis trainee in 2012, reportedly turning down an offer from another major agency before officially joining SEVENTEEN.

Seungkwan debuted with SEVENTEEN on May 26, 2015 with the mini album “17 Carat,” and quickly became known for his powerhouse vocals, sharp comedic timing, and natural talent as an MC. Within the group’s Vocal Team, he leads and performs alongside Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, and DK, and is also a core member of the beloved sub-unit BSS (BooSeokSoon) with Hoshi and DK.

Beyond his group activities, Seungkwan has built an extensive solo OST catalogue, lending his voice to soundtracks for dramas including Record of Youth, Lovestruck in the City, Hospital Playlist, Doctor Romantic 3, and Tell Me That You Love Me, among others. He has also released covers and original digital singles, including “As It Was” for Spotify Singles and “Dandelion” in 2024. His natural charisma has translated into a thriving broadcast career, earning him a Rookie Entertainer Award in 2018 for his work on Korean variety shows.

Affectionately known as SEVENTEEN’s “mood maker,” Seungkwan is beloved by CARATs for his humor, honesty, and vocal power. He continued actively promoting with SEVENTEEN and BSS through 2026 while preparing for his mandatory military enlistment, expected before the end of 2027.
