Who Is ChaeWon of tripleS?

ChaeWon is a South Korean singer and the twenty-first revealed member of the 24-member decentralized girl group tripleS, formed by MODHAUS. Known for her sweet, approachable image and a surprising talent for Korean martial arts, ChaeWon has grown into one of the most beloved younger members of tripleS’s ever-expanding, fan-driven idol universe.

Early Life and Background

ChaeWon was born Kim Chae-won on May 2, 2007, in Seochang-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, South Korea. She grew up with her parents, an older sister, and an older brother. She attended Incheon Mansu Elementary School before transferring to Incheon Hanbit Elementary School, later continuing on to Manwol Middle School and Incheon Gojan High School before eventually enrolling at Hanlim Multi Art School, where she studied broadcasting and entertainment.

After joining the OnMusic Incheon dance academy, ChaeWon was recommended for the 2023 SBS survival program Universe Ticket. Although she was eliminated during the second round, the experience sharpened her performance skills and set her on the path toward MODHAUS, where she successfully passed her company audition later that year.

Debut with tripleS

On April 1, 2024, ChaeWon was officially revealed as tripleS’s twenty-first member, taking the member number S21. She made her full-group debut on May 8, 2024, as part of the completed 24-member lineup on the studio album ASSEMBLE24, promoting the lead single “Girls Never Die.” Shortly after, she made her sub-unit debut with Glow on the digital single “Inner Dance.”

Sub-Unit Activities

True to tripleS’s decentralized, fan-voted structure, ChaeWon has rotated through several sub-units. She joined the Japanese unit ∞! (Hatchi) in 2025, contributing to the track “Password” on the EP SecretHimitsuBimil, and toured internationally as part of Alphie‘s “Alpha Percent” world tour. Later that year, fans voted her into the newly formed sub-unit Sun, with whom she debuted on the single “Bubble Gum Girl” from the mini album Beyond Beauty.

Personality and Talents

ChaeWon is an INTP with a reputation among fans and members for being warm, playful, and endlessly curious. She practices teukgong moosool, a traditional Korean martial art, and is also skilled with nunchucks. Her nickname “Kkobugi” nods to the Pokémon Squirtle, reflecting both her cute image and her fondness for sea otters, her favorite animal. Outside of music, she enjoys reading, tea time, and playing Rummikub.
