Kim Yooyeon, known by her stage name YooYeon, is a South Korean singer and the leader of the 24-member decentralized girl group tripleS, under MODHAUS. As the group’s fifth revealed member (S5) and its oldest member, she has played a central role in tripleS’s growth from a rotating pre-debut project into one of K-pop’s most distinctive fourth-generation acts.

Early Life and Background

YooYeon was born Kim Yoo-yeon on February 9, 2001, in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, South Korea. She first came to public attention as a contestant on MBC’s survival show My Teenage Girl, where she was praised for her visuals and consistent growth, even though her parents initially hoped she would pursue a more conventional path and return to her studies at Ewha Womans University, where she majors in Science Education.
